ZOLL R Series Defibrillator Features
The R Series Defibrillator is the newest hospital-quality defibrillator ZOLL offers and boasts extensive features and options. The primary R Series unit has 3-Lead ECG and pacing features, but oxygen saturation(SPO2), non-invasive blood pressure(NIBP), and end-tidal CO2(EtCO2) features are all available.
CPR Metrics on Display
Using Real CPR Help® technology, the R Series provides audio and visual feedback that guides rescuers to deliver high-quality CPR consistently. If compressions aren’t deep enough, you will hear, “Push harder.” Detailed visual feedback, including the rate and depth of each compression, is displayed on the CPR Dashboard™. If either one falls out of the Guidelines-recommended range, it will be indicated by a color change. Additionally, the diamond-shaped Perfusion Performance Indicator, or PPI, quickly indicates how well the combined rate and depth of compressions match current CPR Guidelines. The dashboard also provides a compression release indicator. When the bar is full, you know you’ve come completely off the chest to allow full recoil.
One of the most common reasons for interruptions in CPR is stopping to determine whether an organized, shockable rhythm has developed. With ZOLL’s patented See-Thru CPR® technology, the compression artifact is filtered out, making it possible to see whether an organized rhythm is present during CPR. By reducing the duration of pauses, See-Thru CPR is just one more way the R Series is designed to help you provide high-quality CPR.
Delivering therapy is easy with the OneStep™ family of electrodes. Monitor, defibrillate, or pace—without needing a separate three-lead ECG cable—with OneStep Complete electrodes. To take advantage of Real CPR Help, use OneStep Complete, OneStep CPR, or OneStep Pediatric CPR electrodes. And, with a dual circuit design, OneStep electrodes can remain pre-connected, even during a 30-joule shock test. They’re available in anterior/anterior or anterior/posterior configurations.
Extensive Pediatric Capabilities
When used with OneStep Pediatric electrodes, the Zoll R Series Defibrillator automatically reduces the shock energy to a lower protocol, starting at 50 joules rather than 120. When the R Series is in Advisory mode, or the R Series Plus is in AED mode, the OneStep Pediatric electrodes enable a pediatric algorithm to distinguish between a shockable and non-shockable rhythm. The unique OneStep Pediatric CPR electrodes also provide visual feedback by displaying the rate and depth of every compression on the CPR Dashboard. These electrodes are specifically designed to ensure precise CPR measurements in small children.
The R Series conducts a comprehensive self-test of more than 110 individual readiness indicators once a day. Using standard wireless technology, it can automatically relay this information to the Defibrillator Dashboard,™ which provides a quick snapshot of the overall health of the entire defibrillator fleet that can be viewed on a PC or mobile device. Defibrillator Dashboard optimizes defibrillator readiness and increases efficiency for the biomedical engineering team.
Debrief with Unmatched Accuracy
After a cardiac arrest event, the R Series Defibrillator supports continuous quality improvement (CQI) initiatives by pushing two buttons, sending the code data rapidly and wirelessly to a designated server. These comprehensive data include the number of shocks, ECG, end-tidal CO2 values, and CPR quality, which can be viewed using several code data programs. R Series Defibrillator
Waveform: Rectilinear Biphasic.™ Patient Impedance Range: 15 to 300 ohms. Energy Selections: 1 to 10, 15, 20, 30, 50, 75, 100, 120, 150, and 200 joules selected using controls on the front of the defibrillator or sternum paddles. (Note: When using appropriate pediatric resuscitation electrodes, the 75-joule setting is replaced by 70- and 85-joule settings.)
Smart Step Energy Levels: Automatically escalates energy through a configured adult or pediatric protocol.
Energy Display: Shown on the monitor for both selected and delivered.
Charge Time: Less than 7 seconds with a new, fully charged battery (first 15 charges to 200 joules); longer charge times may result in a depleted or older battery.
Synchronized Mode: Synchronizes R Series Defibrillator pulse to patient’s R wave. The “SYNC” message is displayed on the monitor, and markers are shown on both the monitor and the recorded ECG.
Charge Controls: Control from the front of the defibrillator or apex paddle.
Paddles: External apex/sternum paddles; adult plates slide off to expose the pediatric electrode surface.

Protocol Configurations: Configurable for either CPR or shock-first-driven protocols. Energy sequences can be configured for single or multiple shocks with fixed or escalating energy levels. The CPR interval length is configurable in 1-minute increments up to 4 minutes.
External Pacing (not included in all configurations)
Type: VVI demand; asynchronous (fixed rate) when used without ECG leads or in asynchronous (ASYNC) pacing mode.
Pulse: Rectilinear, constant current: 40 ms ±2 ms; variable 0 to 140 mA ±5% or 5 mA, whichever is greater. The rate is variable from 30 to 180 ppm ±1.5%.
