Ambu continuously explores ways to reduce our reliance on fossil-based materials and lower the carbon footprint of our medical devices.​A tangible example of this is Ambu’s use of PC bioplastic material in their SureSight video laryngoscope blades.* They also use bioplastic material in their endoscope handles** and laryngeal mask cuff protectors.*PC bioplastic (using bio-attribution) has 55% second-generation bio-based feedstock and 45% traditional fossil-based feedstock (certified under mass-balance). **The bioplastic material (in this case bio-ABS) used in Ambu’s endoscope handles emits 70% less carbon than traditional fossil-based ABS plastic (based on cradle-to-gate LCA from manufacturer). Note that this reduction refers to the ABS plastic in the handle and not the full endoscope.
